Why You Should Create Your Own Banner Ads

If you’re using safelists and traffic exchanges to promote your online business, here’s a simple strategy that can give you a real edge: create your own unique banner ads and point them to a lead capture page. It’s easy, it’s free, and it can dramatically increase your results.

Stand Out from the Crowd

Most affiliate marketers use the same default banner ads provided by the programs they promote. The problem? Those banners are generic and they are everywhere. After you’ve seen the same ad 150 or 200 times, it starts to fade into the background.

That’s why creating your own banner ad makes such a difference. A unique design with your own message – and even a bit of personal branding – will grab attention because it’s fresh. You’ll be the only person running that ad. And in a crowded space like a safelist or traffic exchange, standing out is everything.

Drive Traffic to Your Opt-in Page

Even more importantly, your banner ad should link to a lead capture page, not directly to an affiliate offer.

Why? Because building your email list is the foundation of long-term success online. Once someone opts into your list, you can follow up with them via email and introduce them to your affiliate offers in a more personalized and effective way.

Using banner ad impressions on safelists or traffic exchanges to build your list first is simply the best way to utilize all those banner ad impressions.

Easy and Free with Canva

You don’t need to be a designer to create eye-catching banner ads. Tools like Canva make it free and incredibly easy.

You can:

  • Choose a standard banner size like 468×60
  • Add a bold, benefit-driven headline
  • Use contrasting colors to make it pop
  • Include a simple call-to-action like “Click Here”
  • Add your photo or name to build trust and branding

In fact, you can make several versions of your banner in different color schemes and test them across different platforms to see which one gets the most clicks.

Here’s a demo video I made for one of our Evergreen Funnel Club subscribers, Jacob who asked how to make banners on Canva.com:

Creating your own banner ads is a small action that can lead to big results. It gives you control over your messaging, builds your personal brand, and helps convert banner impressions into subscribers and ultimately sales.

So don’t rely on tired default banners. Fire up Canva, make a unique banner, point it to your lead capture page and watch your results improve.

Cheers!
